What /goal Does
/goal gives your Ally a long-term mission — something it keeps in mind across different chats and sessions. Unlike a normal conversation that resets when you start fresh, a goal persists. Your Ally knows what it's working toward even when you switch topics or come back tomorrow.
Think of it like telling a teammate: "Here's our North Star. Everything we do should move toward this."
Try this: Type /goal start followed by your objective — for example /goal start Find five new software tools that save me time each week. Your Ally now has a persistent mission.
The Sub-Commands
When you type /goal in the chat box, a popup appears with all the sub-commands. Each one has a hint in [brackets] explaining what it does. Use ↑ ↓ to move through the list, Tab to select, Enter to run, Esc to close.
| Sub-Command | What It Does | When to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| status | Check if your Ally has an active goal and review what it is. | You forgot what goal you set, or you want to confirm it's still active. |
| start [set a goal] | Begin a new goal. Type your objective right after it — for example: /goal start research vacation spots in Costa Rica. | You have a new long-term project and you want your Ally to keep it in mind. |
| pause | Put the current goal on hold. The goal stays saved but your Ally stops working toward it. | Priorities shifted. You'll come back to it later. |
| resume | Un-pause a paused goal. Your Ally picks up where it left off. | You're ready to get back to work on that project. |
| complete | Mark the goal as finished. Your Ally acknowledges the achievement and the goal is done. | You accomplished what you set out to do. |
| block [what's blocking you] | Tell your Ally what's in the way. It can help you find a workaround. | You're stuck on something and need your Ally's help figuring out the next step. |
| clear | Remove the goal entirely. No history, no traces. | The goal is no longer relevant. Start fresh with nothing. |
When to Use a Goal
- You have a multi-day project — planning a trip, researching a purchase, building a content calendar.
- You want your Ally to remember a priority across different conversations without you repeating it.
- You find yourself saying "as I mentioned before..." more than once. Set it as a goal instead.
When Not to Use a Goal
- One-off questions. Just ask and move on — no need to set a goal for a single answer.
- Quick tasks that'll be done in five minutes. A session is enough.
