What /new Does
Think of /new like closing a notebook and opening a fresh one. Your Ally lets go of everything from the previous conversation — every instruction, every detail, every request — and starts a completely blank page.
This is different from just typing a new question. Your Ally remembers the context of your current conversation until you tell it otherwise. /new is the official way to say "forget all that, we're starting over."
Try this: When you finish one project and move to an unrelated one, type /new first. Your Ally won't confuse yesterday's task with today's.
When to Use It
- You finished drafting an email and now need a meal plan. Different topics = start fresh.
- Your Ally is still referencing an old detail from three conversations ago. Clear the slate.
- You want to experiment or ask something you know won't go anywhere — no need to keep it around.
When Not to Use It
- You're in the middle of a project and just want to refine the current result. Keep typing, don't reset.
- You want to keep a record of the full conversation. Use /session instead to switch to a different thread without losing this one.
